Ring a bell to anyone?

I have been chatting off and on with my good internet friend Lucia Novak for a few months now....but just thought I would once again try tossing out some things without going into a long detailed post to see if anyone can remember anything from yrs back.

I have no names...I know....a toughy....but....the info I am looking for and which I am hoping might ring a bell to somebody would have taken place in perhaps the late 1940's to late 1950's. And I fully realize that records back then were easily fudged and turned around to defer searchers from finding anything out....so..here goes....

A polish woman, or maybe she was even of french decent was widowed at an early age....why or how?..I do not know. But, she was left to raise 4 children...ages and genders also not known...nor is the cause of her husbands death at a young age. Her age at his death is another unknown...only listed that she was widowed at an early age. She became pregnant in early 1958 by a married man said to have been in the building trades of some sort..this man had children as well....???? as to how manyand ages. She was having an affair and when she made it known to this man that she was pregnant, it is stated that this is when she learned he was married with children....end of relationship apparently. Verbal statements by a probate Judge said she was catholic and a nurse by trade but was not working due to needing to raise her 4 kids after her husband died. She decided to give baby #5 up for adoption via then...Catholic social services (who to this day....are still so secretive)....she traveled to Grand Rapids to give birth and left without the baby whom it is said she named...Catherine/Kathryn/Katherine/Cathryn...correct spelling was denied when asked for. This woman would have been about 35 to 37 when she had this last baby. If she is still on this earth, she would be about in her mid to late 80's. I am thinking that back then, and both the woman and the deceased husband and the man she had the affair with....all were from somewhere in Leelanau county....the area is not as it is today....people gossiped just like they do still today. Ring abell?

Sorry, to say I have no information for your research plea.
Just a comment to your research... I also had an unknown married father with children, that I know nothing about. For some unknown reason my mother and her family decided to never tell me about him and the circumstances around my conception. The only known fact about him I was told was he wanted my mother to have an abortion. I am thankful that my mother and family decided to let me live. It took me a long time to accept and forgive them for this decision of the secrets and keeping his idenity to themselves. I still would like to know at least a name to place in my family tree but with everyone gone and out of life I probably will never know his name. Any one reading your plea and this comment, please make sure that your children know facts about their parents. I really think the unknown hurts more than the known. I have to wait to the next life to fill the blanks. Parents, please do not leave your children to wonder all their years on this earth about who and what their parentages. Best of luck to those who need these answers in their lives and may the answers give us peace.

Thanks njp1970....very much appreciated. I have been searching off and on since 1979 and have learned little bits and pieces here and there...but never any names of course. If my birthmother is no longer of this earth, then it would be a great thing for me to find and connect with my 4 older siblings. I just thought I would once again make a post and just see what happened. Perhaps one of my older siblings may have remembered my birthmother being pregnant with me, leaving for a while and returning minus a baby...perhaps they could be looking for me?...hopeful dreams. I just pray, that someday the state of Michigan will reverse the time frame I fall into and open all the closed records....I feel it is an adoptees right and I know...I'm not the only adoptee who feels this way....that's a whole new blog!!...LOL!

I pray that your wishes for equal rights for All....Happens. Why should their rights to keep us from knowing have more weight to the issue than ours to know who we are today and who are our parents. Best Wishes for those who are in search of names and facts..
