My great great grandmother was Angile Varrin (married name Godin). She was from the Griffith/Matawachan area. I was told that her mother was Maxine(ime?) Vincent. Would you have any info on this? I would really appreciate it. I've been searching a long time for Angiles' parents.
Thank-you!...Maureen Brownlee.

Thank-you for your reply.
My great great grandmother (Angile Varrin) was born in 1852 . So the Maxine(ime) Vincent I am looking for would have been born maybe 1830 or before. I have been told that the Vincents from the Griffith/Matawachan area are originally Amikons from Golden Lake? True? thank-you Maureen.

Hi Paul

it's been awhile, I tried your email address but it's no longer viable.

I think I possibly stumbled across Francois' death.
unfortunately there is no mention of relatives in either the BMS2000 or the Drouin collection on Ancestry.com

the bms has a francois dagenais who died in wakefield 8 jul 1891 age 55 and married, but no parents or spouse is given. I checked the drouin collection and the funeral entry in Wakefield has francois as having passed away at the High Rock mine in Notre Dame de Salette, but the witnesses are all the mine representatives and no relatives listed.

in the 1891 census, Francois and Marie are listed in Portland West, Ottawa County, Quebec and his occupation is miner. There should have been some sort of writeup in the Wakefield newspaper if it was a mine accident. maybe an obit might list siblings.
still haven't found the marriage records anywhere

Debbie

My Quebec mining accident database only covers reports for the years 1909-1926 (fatal and nonfatal) and 1927-1936 (fatal)

Thanks Jerry

at one time the Porcupine Miner's memorial had a list of miners that died in the Timmins mines on the Cochrane District genweb but it's not there anymore. there were alot of additional names that were not listed in the ontario government listing. these names were found thru the Porcupine Advance newspaper. I'm pretty sure that Kirkland Lake also has a list for their mines.
