I am looking for information regarding my Great Aunt May Woodmansee. I believe she was the sister of my Grandfather Alison (Allie) Eckert, daughter of German (Jerman) and Mary Eckert. The last think I can find on her is a Death Notice of Mary Eckert 12/1919 Olean Evening Hearad. Linda Eckert-Hausauer

I just sent you a personal email as well: Joie Wilson, who has done extensive historical work on Franklinville, NY and is a prior town historian, has the following information for you:
MAE WOODMANSEE, born 12-19-1863/died 12-13-1942, is buried in Mount Prospect Cemetery here in Franklinville.
I included her email address in my email to you, so feel free to contact her directly, or me.

I did find an obituary for May (Mae) Woodmansee in a newspaper from Olean. It appears she was married before to ______ Cleveland, given the names of her sons. Also - apparently her cemetery record shows her death date as 1942, but the newspaper shows 1943.
Olean Times Herald Olean, NY Dec 13, 1943
MRS. MAE WOODMANSEE, 141 North Barry Street, died today (December 13, 1943) at the Warsaw Hospital, following a long illness. She was the widow of the late JOHN WOODMANSEE. She was born December 17, 1884.
Surviving are two sons, Myrle G. Cleveland, Olean; Ora L. Cleveland, Franklinville; two grandchildren, Eola Cleveland, Bradford, PA; Mrs. Ruth Johnson, Salamanca; several nieces. The body was removed to the Babbitt Funeral Home, Franklinville, where funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon (December 15, 1943) at two o'clock.

Thank YOu very much. I am sure she is buried at Mt. Prospect and will try to get there and look around today. I just happen to have the day off. I am hoping it some where near her parents. I am meeting with the town historian when I can get down there during the week again. Soon I hope. Thanks Linda

Hello, I came across your posting and I know of 2 Woodmansee's in the Jamestown, NY area. I don't know if they are of your family or not. Gary & Randy Woodmansee, they are about 40 years old. There mother was Louie Woodmansee. I do not know her maiden name. She passed away about 10 years ago in Jamestown, NY. Maybe this information will help you. The local news paper is JAMESTOWN POST JOURNAL.

Re: May and John Woodmansee
Is Gary Woodmansee related to a Gary Woodmansee who passed away in 1995, son of Merton & Daphna Woodmansee? I am doing research on that family.

Re: May and John Woodmansee
I am not sure. Gary and Randys' father was a Woodmansee. I will check with my mom and see what she knows.

I am planning on going to the Franklinville, Miner's Cabin soon to go thru historical papers. I hve found some Woodmansee in Canisteo, in 1870 & I am trying to see if there is a connection. Linda

Re: May and John Woodmansee
My mother thinks May Woodmansee might have had a restaurant in Olean around 1936. She thinks Alison Eckert was coming from the restaurant when he collapsed and died in the street. I have been trying to checked newspaper articles but so far no help there. Linda
