Surnames: Claybrook Thompson Boswell
My grandmother, Nelle Claybrook Thompson (1909-1980), was the daughter of Joseph Claybrook (1869-1940) and Minnie Mattie Mae Boswell (1872-1920), who settled in the Steiner area of Bosque County. Grandma married Quincy Lee "Buster" Thompson of Morgan, and they together operated the Thompson's Garage in Morgan for over 60 years. I am looking for anyone who knows anything about the Boswell, Claybrook family, or the Thompson families. The family legend has it that one of the Claybrooks was the first public school teacher in Bosque County. The Boswells were from Alabama

It appears that Rhoda Ann died and C R Claybrook then married Sarah....3rd wife. Minnie, Mary and Guy are probably her children ? James N, age 12 in 1880 does not match John T from the 1870 record. James N could be Sarah's son from previous marriage ?

There are "Family Trees" on Rootsweb regarding others researching the family of William Peyton Doswell Claybrook who is reported to have died in Hot Springs, Garland, AR in 1888. Ed Rush has done extensive research on the Claybrook's including Joseph Edwin. Ed's email address as of 2004 was ed@edrene.us Ed appears to be descended from Margaret Claybrook who married Charles Rush and moved to Arkansas and died 6 DEC 1980 in Oil Hill, Butler Co, Kansas.

I was not able to find Minnie Boswell's family in the 1870 record. There were other Boswell's in Bullock county in the 1870 record but Minnie's is not listed.

Sad to say that I did not find James W BOSWELL before the 1880 record at all. He was living with the Claybrook's in 1900 and listed as single, not widower or divorced. Minnie's sister Lillian, born 7/1880 in AL also living in household.

James W BOSWELL, born May 1833, age 67, single, GA, parents GA.

Most of the 1890 record burned in 1921 and from the 1900 record Joe and Minnie married in 1890.

James BOSWELL appears to have died before 1910 or he is not counted and not living with the Claybrook's. I can not help with the early educators of Bosque county. Try the website on Rootsweb for other information.

Joseph and Mattie Claybrook were my great-grandparents. Do you have any details about the Alabama Boswells? I have some that was given to me, but without sources.

Surnames: Rodes Broaddus Claybrook Barry
About Anne Rodes Broaddus Claybrook: I have information from one person who says she was born February 08, 1827, in Virginia, but the 1880 Arkansas census said she and her parents were born in Kentucky (as does the 1860 Mo. census cited here).

She apparently had a prior marriage; 1880 Arkansas census shows W.H.C. Broaddus (1847-?) as stepson of W.P.D. Claybrook. I'm guessing that Rodes was her maiden name.

About Mary Wingfield Claybrook Barry: I show her born December 1, 1828, in Washington Co., KY (probably the town of Texas). She married Griffith Coombe Barry. She died September 27, 1883 in Bosque Co., TX.

About "C F Claybro[o]k" and "Rhoda Ann [Lane]": I am very curious about them. I have no information on either, although there was a Margaret R A Lane (1840-1873) who was C R Claybrook's second wife (and I'm eagerly looking for more information about her). C R's third wife (married four months after Margaret's death) was Sara Anne McKissick (1840-1929).

I suspect that "Rhoda Ann" is the same person as "Margaret R A" and that "C F" is really C R, who was also a blacksmith, born in KY in 1831/2.

About the 1880 "R C Claybrook": That's definitely C R.

About Margaret Claybrook and Charles Rush: They were my grandparents.
