Cannot help with the family but you can search RAF operational records by squadron and dates then download the the ones you want for a small fee, via the National Archives web page at http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/squadron-...

My mother's friend Jimmy Muir was the squadron diarist for several months in 1944 before he was shot down by flak the same day D.G. Metzler was killed. I have thoroughly researched Jimmy and a few others, but would like to be in touch with F/Lt Metzler's family.

If you want to find out more about 65 Sqn, you can contact the RAF Air Historical Branch who can help you find out details about the squadron at that time.

However, they cannot (Data Protection) help with tracing people or there personal recored. Only the next of kin can request their files, until they are released, prob in another 20 years or so.
