Thank you for replying!

My maiden name is Vidlock and I know of several ancestors in the Lincoln area during the same time period- I am trying to figure out if they are related. My ancestors are Joseph Franklin Vidlock ( b. 1856 Bohemia) married Anna Soukup(b. 25 Aug 1862) Their children were Joseph Wilford (Jack), Edward and William. I cannot seem to get any further back than Joseph Franklin Vidlock in my research. I would love any information on their ancestors- any siblings of John would be helpful also. I would be willing to share any info on Vidlock descendants that I have with you. Thank you!

From the digging I did on your line I would say your Joseph is the son of Johann/John and Marie/Mary Vidlak aka Vidlock and Wydlack. I base this on their immigration to the USA, July 6, 1874, on board the "Rhein", to the Port of New York
(page 181, Leo Baca, Czech Immigration Passenger List) viz
Johann Wydlack, age 45, wife Marie, age 36, children: Josef, age 17, Franz, age 15, Franziska, age 12, Anna, age 9, Alousia, age 7, and Wenzl, age 5.
Johann is John, Marie is Mary, Josef is Joseph, Franz is Frank, Alousia is Lucy and the Eliza on the 1880 census, Wenzl is James or Jim. Another dau. Jennie born abt. 1876, NE. She is listed as Jane on the 1885 census, but the 1885 is a story in itself.
Lucy/Alouisa married John C. Schutt. Believe Frank married Katerine Herbacek. James/Vaclav/Wenzl married Lillian Brecka.
Anna married Anton Bohaty.
From the Marge Sobotka book page 71, I find this family came from the village of Vrtesice, town of Habry, county Caslav, Central Bohemia.
Have a copy of the imm. manifest page if you would like me to mail it to you.

I can't thank you enough. I found the immigration info on Ancestry. I had been told the name was changed from Vidlak so I wouldn't have thought to go to Wydlack. Thank you! If you want any of my info on the descendants of Joseph (Josef) please let me know!

You are welcome

John and Marie Vidlak of Abie Nebraska were my Great, Great Grandparents and they came to the United States in about 1887.

I am attempting to verify where they came from when they came to the United States and any other information about them. I will be going to Eastern Europe soon and would like to visit the town or village they came from. The information below is all I know.

John (died in Jan 1912 and Marie Vidlak (she was a Fanta, died 17, Aug 1889) came to the US with their children. They had 3 sons, Joe (married a Soukup), Frank (married Katie Hrbacek, they were my Great Grandparents) and Jim (married a Simon): 5 daughters, Mary (who came to the United States 2 years later with her husband Frank Semrad and 2 children) Anna (married a Soukup), Mrs Jackout(do know her first name), Lucy (married Schutts) and Jenny.

I would also like to get the names and any other information about John and Marie's parents.

Any information would be appreciated. Bob
