I am seeking information on George Hector Fortine (or Fortie)who migrated to Molson from Kelowna, B.C. between 1908-11. Mr. Fortine raced Canadian Pacers from Quebec to Kelowna and settled in Molson, establishing a sawmill in either Chesaw or Mt. Hull. He married Flora Welling 1-19-1907 and later moved to Oroville around 1911 where he raised and trained horses for logging.

Can anyone tell me about his connection to the sawmill or his life in the area?

The Okanogan Auditor might have a copy of their marriage license on file since their wedding was in January and the state law required marriage licenses in July, 1907.

The Washington Death Certificate Index shows
--George H. Fortine died 17 May 1917 in Oroville, Okanogan County, at the age of 51 years, 11 months and 4 days. The death certificate for parents was identified as reading "Do Not Know". So, whoever provided the information for him (respondent) either was not a member of the family or had little information on him.
--Alice Fortie, died 20 May 1938 at Medical Lake, Spokane Co, WA, at age 30 years 4 months and 36 days (36 days? that is unusual as it is over a month period). Her parents were George Fortie and Flora Vezzoni. (This is based on the names you provided. You may have more information to confirm this George is the same as Fortine. But, this death certificate shows this Flora was a Vezzoni.
