I am trying to gather information regarding my grandfather's family. They are from Lundar, MB and the name of my grandfather is Kristjan Thorsteinson. His parents were Kristina and Gudmundur Thorsteinson. Kristina's father was Peter Peterson and Gudmundur's father's name was Vigfus. Saw your message while visiting Wpg and checked out a book written for the interlake region in the early 1980's called Wagons to Wings. I did check for the names that you had mentioned and although there were a number of Thorsteinson, and Peterson, Peturson and a Pjeturson, couldn't find the first names you mentioned. If you have not received any responses to your query, you should try to contact someone in the Lundar area, maybe they could help you. What about the birth dates or other family members' names.

Because of the names and the locaation (Lundar) I am assuming that the family is Icelandic. If you are trying to trace them back to Iceland the there is a book that lists Icelandic emmigrants it is called Vesturfaraskra. The names are listed by first names and then last because of the Icelandic naming patterns.It is difficult to get used to but then you find it a big help in tracing your family. For instance your Gudmundur Thorsteinsson would in Iceland be Gudmundur Vigfusson as his father was Vigfus Good luck
