Would like to hear from anyone related to the Oppelt family in America or Germany. I have a fairly large data base of Oppelt names and Oppelt lines, starting in 1793 with Gottfried Sebastian Oppelt who came to Bethelehem, Pennsylvania from Herrnhut, Saxony, Germany. Gottfried's family origins were in Bavaria in the 1600s. Most of the Oppelt families that I have records on have come from Bavaria in the area of Bamberg, Germany. I am willing to share whatever data that I have and would like to add more data from anyone related to the Oppelt family.

My grandmothers name was Frances Anna Oppelt.
She was born in New York City 13 Dec. 1888 .Her parents names were Michael Oppelt(b. Oct. 1845) and Helen Reis(b.June 1847).
They both were from Germany,exactly where in Germany I do not know yet.
Michael came over to New York in 1868 and Helen Reis in 1855.Michael had two other chidren besides Frances.
Michael b. Jan. 1881 and
Rosie b. Dec. 1889.
That is all I have,except Michael was a stonecutter and lived on Knickerbocker Ave in Brooklyn,NY.I hope you might have something that will help!

My husband's great-grandmother was Lena Estelle Oppelt. She was born Oct.17, 1868 and died May 19, 1957. She was married to William Henry Butcher who was from Iowa. We don't have any information on her parents. Can you help? Thanks

I haven't checked here in a long time.
I found a Michael Oppelt in NY in the
NYC directory for 1890.He was a police officer
and his address was 305 Avenue A. It is worth investigating.
