HELLO,
MY ANCESTORS AT ONE TIME WERE ROYALTY THERE UNTIL THE WAR THEN THEIR PROPERTIES WERE SEIZED BY THE GOVERMENT. CAPE DELAMADELINE IS A CAPE IN CANADA.
WHEN MY GFATHER GERARD CAME TO THE USA, HE "AMERICANIZED" HIS FAMILY NAME TO "LAMADELEINE".
IF ANY ONE HAS ANY INFO, I WOULD VERY GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!!

Louis Lamadelin

Dawn,
Sorry I don't check the board frequently. Did your family settle in Canada then. We are in Michigan. Not finding much information. I know Louis married in the 1890's to my grandmother and then remarried again. Not sure if he was married before that or not.
I had heard that they were royalty and that they fled the revolution. I heard that they left wearing jewelry under their clothing for wealth. We have a piece of what is supposed to be one of the necklaces. I heard that there were 2 one was maple leaves and the other oak. They were divided between 2 sisters or 2 children. They were supposed to be past the knee in length. My sister took the piece to a jeweler who said it was only gold plated and that the pieces were too exact to have been made then. I don't know. It was the story my gr grandmother b 1892 told regarding her father. Have you heard any other information. I can't find him until the 1900 Census in MI but he immigrated here in the 1860's per the Census.
Thanks for any help. Carol

Surnames: De Lamadeleine
Hello Up untill now I haven't been able to find anything with the De Lamadeleine name (just Lamadeleine). My husband's grandfather came from Normandy, France. He was married to a German lady (name unknown) they had 6 sons and one daughter and settled in Upton ,Canada. This information came from my husband's Mother, since his father died very young ,in his early 30's he didn't knnow him at all. He was Henri De Lamadeleine, We don't know his grandfather's name.

I've been told the same stories about the Islands. I have quite a bit of info if you have any names that match.

Kelly---I am a Lamadeleine from the line of Vivier Lamagdeleine(spelled many ways), who came to Canada from France in 1665. I have been told stories about the islands belonging to the Lamadeleine family. What info do you have on them? I am sure we are related somewhere down the line, as many families kept coming over. Please respond to my email address----shoskins@stny.rr.com
Thanks Susann
