I would like help in finding a record of the birth of my gggrandfather,
Enos Thompson Bonney who was born 25 Nov 1834 alledgedly in
Farmington. He was the 12th child of
Hervey and
Hannah Fish
Bonney. Hervey moved to
Maine around 1816 and worked as a carpenter.
He lived successively in
Phillips,
Madrid and Strong. I have him listed in Strong, ME in the 1820 and 1840 federal census. While in
MA,
Hannah and
Hervey were married at the First Church of
Kingston, Unitarian although I do not know what church they belonged to in
Maine. Enos siblings were Andrew
Hart,
Sarah Ann, James Harvey,
Hannah Frances,
Hiram, EMily, Stephen Fish, William
Larrabee,
Whitney,
Perez Fish and
Charles Wesley. Enos moved to
Texas right before the Civil War, joined the CSA and served as a surgeon. I would guess that he received his
medical training in the North although I do not
know where. I will be glad to share what I have of
their
Mississippi relatives! I understand that there
was a family bible that was quoted as a source in
several periodicals that I have seen in the New
England Historic Genealogical Society library in
Boston. Does
anyone have knowledge of that? Any help that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.
I also have a copy of a letter written by a Farmington resident, Daniel
Marston Bonney to his nephew
Evans in 1925 telling quite a bit about
the family. I look forward to hearing from
Bonney relatives.
