Peter,

The PORCHE name is a common one in St James Parish back to the 1700s. Check the series of books, DIOCESE OF BATON ROUGE CATHOLIC CHURCH RECORDS, which include extensive PORCHE entries.

Hi Peter, I know you have posted message for several years now and have probably found much of what you're looking for. However, you may be able to help me. My name is Deborah "Debbie" Porche (Edwards), my father is Robert "Buddy" Porche, Sr. My g-mother Ethel Parker Porche told me years ago that most of my paternal family was from Donaldsonville, LA. She also told me one g-uncle, Paul Porche m. Bernedette (sp) Porche. Although they had the same last name, it is believed they were not related. Paul is one of the brothers to my g-grandfather Wilsey (sp) who m. Sara(h) Fields. There are brothers Sidney and I think Harry. Do any of these names ring a bell? Unfortunately, my father does not remember dates and such, he might even have the brothers names mixed up. I know it's not much to go on, but maybe you can help. Thanks Debbie

This is in response to Debbie Porche & Peter.
Debbie this is Daria, your cousin. I've been researching Porche, Fields, Parker, Dyess family for over 6 years now. I've got the Porches back to 1633 in France. Alot of this info was obtained online & is now pretty readily available through ancestrry.com. Some was given to me by a generous individual named Daniel Guidry, who in his spare time did research on the Porche family for me in TERREBONE Parish, back in 1999.. Debbie our Porche line is mostly from Houma, Terrebonne Parish or surrounding Parishes depending on the time. I am willing to share whatever you guys may need.

Hi Debbie, I had dropped out of Genealogy for awhile. I have not been able to locate any information beyond what I already had until the other day when I was in Rootsweb.com where I came across some new information on my GGmother. If you are still looking for information please email me.

Hi Daria: Read your message to your cousin,Debbie, and thought I might be able to get some information from you on the Porches. My Gr Gr Gr Grandparents were Jean Baptiste Altazin and Francoise Porche. He was born about 1770 in France but I do not have any information about Francoise. The Catholic church records for the Diocese of Baton Rouge Louisiana show that they came from Bayonne France to Louisiana. However, my nephew went to Bayonne, France last year and could find no record on any Altazins or Porches. He did find Altazins from 1430 to 1704, but nothing after that. These records were found in Wissant and Calais, France. If your records show a Francoise Porche born around 1770, please e-mail me at Miltona725@aol.com. I would appreciate your information. Thanks

Could the Carrie possibly be Callie. I have a GGrandfather who's name was Frank Benard Porche and there was a Callie on that side of the family. What date range are you talking about.
