Two cousins are searching for the families of Georg, Joachim, Johann, and Wilhelm ISTA and their possible sister, Mary BAGUHN. These families were in the Hampton/New Trier area of Dakota county by 1848. We are also interested in collateral lines of FRIER and RADMAN(N), who also resided (and continue to do so) in Dakota county since the mid 1800s. Thanks a million!

I am interested in Anne Radmann who married Wm Schulz in Dakota county in 1892. Anne died in childbirth in January of 1894. She had a daughter also named Anne who was born at that time and later married Herbert Wunderlich.(1912) There was also a Gustav Radman and Emma Radmann. All lived inor near the Castle Rock area.

Hmmm. This is interesting. I think Anna is the daughter of my Christian and Henrietta Caroline (Peters) Radmann. According to what I have on this family they came from Pommerania in 1879 and stayed for awhile near White Bear Lake with Henrietta's brother before moving to the Castle Rock area of Dakota county.
I have the following children listed for them according to the passenger list for the Nekar from Bremen to US arriving in New York 14 April, 1879
Radmann Sex Age Occupation Christian M 50 Laborer William M 45 Farmer Carolina F 44 Unknown Ulriche F 15 Unknown Bertha F 13 Unknown Auguste F 9 Unknown Anna F 6 Child Gustav M 6 Child Albert M 3 Child Emma F 11Mo Child
She COULD be Wilhelm's child, because the usual list of Radman kids in the family are Auguste, Gustav, Albert, Emma and an older son Herman. However, if Anna died early, it is likely that her nieces and nephews knew nothing about her. The cousins that hung out together the most were the children of Gustav and Augusta (m. Hilbert Ista), because they were about the same age, as I understand. Twins in this family would not be out of the question, either. Augusta herself bore one set.Perhaps it would be worth looking into Christian's obituary to see. He died 29 March, 1895 after falling on a pitchfork.

My ancestor is George Ista (17July1825-23Oct1889)of New Trier. We don't have any information for his parents, but evidently he was born in Brandenburg, Germany. He may have immigrated from Belgium. We have a compilation on the family of George's son, Adolph Henry Ista, who moved to North Dakota in 1883. Does anyone have info on George's parents?

I realize your message is from 1999 but thought I would let you know that I recently found a book on Richland County History (ND). Index shows ISTA, Adolph Sr pg 168, Fred pg 169, George Sr., pg 169, Henry pg 169, Mrs Jean pg 143 and Leroy 169. Adolph Henry ISTA, son of George and Dorothy ISTA was born Hampton (prob Hampton), Decotah (Dakota) Co, MN 1858.... This family had lived in Hastings, MN. There is also much on the Haverland families. Dorothy was a Haverland. Hope this helps. Linda in MN

Joachim Ista was my great-grandfather on my father's side. His daughter Sarah married Louis Gruber Nov. 18, 1887, in Welch Township, Goodhue. Co.MN. My father was the next to the youngest of 11 children born to the couple. My brother still farms a portion of the farm owned by Joachim and his wife Dorothea. After his death she gave the farm to her daughters. One of the daughters, Annie, married Fred Frier. I remember Mr. and Mrs. Wally Frier living on that place when I was kid. I hope this information helps. Please respond.

I am a Freier aka Frier or Freyer descendant from Port Washington WI. My great grandfather was Wilhelm Freier who with his wife Katharine Witte Freier had eight children, six of whom moved on to MN Dakota county. Three married into the Ista family. We have information to share on the Freier and Witte lines.

This is too weird. My grandfather, Arthur Ista, was the son of Augusta Radmann and Ferdinand Ista. He died when he fell on a scythe in 1971. I guess my clumsiness comes naturally.

Actually Art died from falling on a corn knife. I was at my grandparents' in Faribault when it happened and I remember my step-grandfather getting the call. It is confusing. My grandfather was Hilbert Ista, son of Ferdinand and Emma Ista. About 2 years after he died, my grandmother married his brother, Clarence.
