I wanted to pass this information along to those searching Bowlers.
I found JOHN BOWLER on the 1881 Canadian Census for Ashfield, Huron, Ontario, Canada.

John Bowler, M, bn 1821 in Ireland, Farmer, Catholic as all of the following below.
Margaret Bowler, M, bn 1836, Ireland (Could be Margaret Welsch)
John Bowler, bn 1860, Ontario

Ellan/Ellen(Sp.) Bowler, bn 1869, Ontario
Michal Bowler, bn 1872, Ontario

There is also a notation for baptism for Michael Bowlar, bn Nov. 3, 1864; baptism on Nov. 20, 1864: Sponsors: Matthew O'Connor and Ellen O'Connor states parents as John Bowlar and Catherine O'Connor.
Somehow also the Courney/Cournay's, Welsch and O'Connor/Connors are also connected. Listed is John Courney and Catherine Courney married on Sept. 28th, 1864. John son of Michael Courney and Margarete Welsch. Also noted is Patrick Courney and Mary Connors. States that Catherine is the dau. of Michael Courney and Catherine Welsch (this may be an error).
Also on another listing for the Birth of John Sullivan son of Jeremiah Sullivan and Bridget Connor baptized on June 25, 1864 his sponsors were John Bowlar and Mary Connor.
Another listing for the Birth of Mary Bowlar baptized on Feb 21, 1864 states she is the dau. of Michael Bowlar and Mary Webb. Sponsors are Patrick Bowlar and Ellen Connor.

Living next door to Mical Courtnay and his wife Catheron and their children; six houses away are Thomas Ford and Julia Ford and their children; there are also Hogan/Hagen lines within 20 houses of the Bowlers.
Thought this might help!
