Looking for burial place for William John Atkinson, who died March 12, 1901 in Little Rock, Iowa.
Iowa State Record of Deaths state that he died in Little Rock, Iowa and was buried in Little Rock, Iowa. Family was Methodist Episcopal. Online, I have found 2 cemeteries in Little Rock -- Pleasant View (online index plus requested lookup was negative on this one) and Lutheran Pioneer, also called Bethlehem cemetery (no online data available). I have searched online indexes for all Lyon County, Iowa cemeteries with no luck.
State Historical Society of Iowa supposedly has 1900-1909 microfilm for Little Rock Free-Lance, but when I requested research for his obituary, the librarian there informed me that their collection has a gap from January 4 - June 13, 1901, so she was unable to locate his obit. I've tried other newspaper archives online to no avail.
I created a "placeholder" Findagrave record for him in Pleasant View cemetery even though lookup was negative. His family moved to Colorado in 1907 and his wife died in 1920 and is buried in Fruita, Colorado with a huge stone. So I have trouble believing he doesn't have a stone.
At the time of his 1901 death, he and his wife Margaret were living in Lyon County, Iowa with their son in law Romance Botkin and daughter Mary Eliza Atkinson Botkin. Also in 1901, his son Hamilton Atkinson was living in Remsen, Plymouth, Iowa; son James Atkinson was either in Iowa or South Dakota; and son Samuel Atkinson was in South Dakota.
Also, while I'm asking, where would I find a researcher in the Lyon County, Iowa area who could try to track down a will and probate records for William? Happy to pay for your time. Thanks for any help.
