Classification: Query
Surnames: Hood, Philson
I would be interested in exchanging information with descendants of Robert Philson as I am sure that Mr. Philson was a business partner (or vendor or mentor) to my ancestor, Archibald Hood (c.1765-bef.1840). Archibald Hood was born in Donegal, Ireland and immigrated to America about 1791. He settled in Fredericktown, Washington County, PA, and within a few years had established a store in Fredericktown and began handling large amounts of goods. Records in Greene County link him to Robert Philson, indicating that Philson and Hood were in business together. Philson may have helped Archibald Hood get established in the New World.

I would like to know if the Philson family has any material on Archibald Hood, or knows of where any of Philson's business papers may have been donated to a library or archives collection. I have some material on Philson in Greene County and his business activities with Archibald Hood that I'm willing to share with Philson descendants.
