We've found that some of our ancestors ran the Sitwell Arms and the Chequers pubs in Whiston, Rotherham in the 1800's.
Their names were Robert (1759 -1846) & Sarah (1761 - 1836) ELLIOTT , Timothy (1795 - 1878) & Letitia (1796 - 1848) ELLIOTT and one of their daughters, Helen (1835 - 1886) who married John Howitt Scurrah (b. 1833). I think they were also butchers. I'd be grateful for any information anyone might have ! On an 1891 census record the address of Helen & John Scurrah was 109 Brookside Left, Quarry Hill, but it doesn't appear to exist anymore. Does any one know whereabouts that was, please.
