Robert Martin Autrey, b. in Perry Co. Ala. moved to the Lincoln Parish, La. area in 1847 with his parents, Absalom and Elizabeth (Norris) Autrey. Robert married Elizabeth Jane KEMP and came to Bowie County in mid 1800's. He first had land in Coryell in early 1800's but sold his land and returned to La. to settle the estate of his parents. He and Elizabeth returned to Bowie Co. in late 1800's and raised their family there, they had 5 chiildren - 1 daughter and four sons: Columbia Ann, Will, Ed, Elbert Eugene, and "Pink" Cisero Autrey. When Elizabeth Kemp died, Robert Martin Autrey married Sara Jane SCARBOROUGH and had more children.
