I'm hoping someone can help me sort out my Ebenezer Rockwells. My 4 g-grandfather was James Levi Rockwell, born Windsor, CT in 1797. His father's name was Ebenezer.

I find an Ebenezer III born in Windsor 5 July, 1752. I'm also finding another Ebenezer born in Middletown, CT 15 June, 1753. And then a third Ebenezer born in Stonington, CT 20 June 1756.

Because of the Windsor birthplace, I went with that Ebenezer. Because he's referenced as Ebenezer III, I'm figuring that his father was Ebenezer II or Jr., and his grandfather was the original Ebenezer of the line. Pure speculation, though, as they may have skipped a generation here or there with the naming.

If I'm correct, Ebenezer II could have been born around 1730 and I did find a record of one born that year in CT.

So then Ebenezer I could have been born around 1710 and I find a record of one born that year in Middletown, CT (son of Joseph and Elizabeth).

Some things just aren't lining up, though. For example, Ebenezer II was born in 1730 but I find two possible sisters, Mehitabel and Lucy, born 1743 and 1746. Quite a gap but not impossible.

Has anyone been researching these lines that might be able to help me sort this out?
