Harrison Bowen m. Elizabeth Grigg

The earliest I find them in the NC census is 1850, Stokes County, NC: Harrison 36, Elizabeth 39, Henry S 9, Mary E 7, Parmelia C 5, Lewis P 3, John W 1.

I have found info that states their marriage was in 1840 in Stokes, Goochland Co, VA. Have also found some info that Harrison may have been born in VA. But I do not have access to any VA census records prior to 1850.

Harrison is my ggg grandfather and this is where I have hit a roadblock on the Bowen name. Would MUCH appreciate anyone who can tell me who his parents are and where to go looking for information on them.
