Finis Ewing Harrell Sr. was born about 1840 or 1841 probably in Dallas County Alabama. He was a son of Whitmel Finis Harrell and Phereby Fort (Rasco) Harrell. He married MaryA. (Unknown) about 1860 or 1861 possibly in Dallas County Alabama. By 1880 the family was living in Blount County Alabama where they were enumerated in the 1880 census. Finis Ewing Harrell Sr. apparently died between 1884 and 1900. In the 1900 census his widow, listed as Mollie, was head of household. The known children of Finis and Mary A.Harrell as taken from the 1880 and 1900 censuses were:
