My ancestor's 1828 naturalization papers give his name as "Nilson John Wemmer" born "13 June 1802 in Wirtemburg, Denmark" and "migrated from Helsingher" [sic? Helsingor?] to "Bristol, Rhode Island arriving on or about 17 September 1824" and settled in Philadelphia, PA. Searches only come up with Wirtemberg (sic) in SE Germany.
Please help!
P.S. He may have anglized his name from Neilsen John Whemmer, but the spelling above is what is on the document and how he signed his name on the documents in the various places required. The place names may have been anglized and/or spelled incorrectly by the court clerk, too.-jw
