My great grandfather Joseph Abraham Popp migrated from Russia to Kansas by way of Hamburg, Germany. My information shows that he was born Oct 1862 in Balzar, Russia. He sailed to America aboard the S. S. Salier in 1875. Other passengers were Georg Giesick, 22, farmer, his wife Cath. Margaret, 21, Peter Kister, 22, farmer, his wife Christina.

Katie Margaret Diehl was born in Russia in Aug 1862 and migrated in 1876 at the age of 14. She married Joseph in 1878 at the age of 16.

Joseph and Katie had 11 or 12 children and only the last six lived. Three daugthers, then three sons--Mary, Martha, Anna, Joseph, Frederick, and Harold
