I am researching my 3rd great grandfather but know very little of him. His name was Anthony Frembgen (various spellings such as Frembeyn, Fremgen, etc). He was born around 1831 in Prussia and came to USA. He was married there in 1859, and then he died in the Civil War in 1865.

On his marriage certificate it lists his parents as Gerhard and Elizabeth.
I have not been able to locate an actual city of birth/baptism; I don't know of any family that he emigrated with; I have not been able to find him on a passenger list.

I came across a record of Anton Frembgen, born to Gerhard Frembgen and Elisabeth Reintgen in Rheinbach, 17 Jan 1826, but I am guessing that these are fairly common first names.

Would appreciate any advice.
