Book Morgan Cty WV and Its People and other Morgan Cty Resources

I used to live in Charleston WV and had the opportunity to review a copy of this book at the WV Genealogical Society in Elkview.

As Ginger pointed out the glossary or index is scant and it appears from her posting that I missed a great deal of info based on the Hasenbuhler and related families that I am researching in WV. (At the same time, I know more about them now than I did at that time enough to know that the book contains a great deal more!)

I know live in SC and don't have opportunity to go back to WV very often. So, decided to do the following:

1. Search for an out-of-print book through the net--have done this before and was successful in finding certain books of interest. (Have left the title of the book as a "want" item and hope to hear back from one of the antiquarian book sellers).

2. Find someone who has a copy of the book that would be willing to do look-ups. (A couple of years ago there were people in the Morgan County GenWeb Project website. But I haven't had a chance to check again. So far, haven't had any luck in this regard but will keep trying.)

3. Did a search for a Library that may have this book and was able to find out through the Family History Library Catalog (www.familysearch.org) that any Family History Center near you can order the microfilmed copy of the following books for a small fee:

a. Morgan County WV and Its People - Film #465555
b. Survey of State and Local Historical Records, Morgan County - Film #180334
c. Warm Springs Echoes: About Berkeley Springs and Morgan County by Newbraugh, Frederick T - Film #747700

So, for the time being, just wanted to share this info while I continue to search for an out-of-print book while I am also interested in the "reprint" plan discussed so far.

Just wanted to thank Ginger for her kind efforts and all of the responses regarding this important subject to us all.

PS - to find out where your nearest FHC is located go to the website mentioned above.

Hope this helps!
