A former resident of Greensburg was killed last week in a one-car automobile accident in Campbellsville. Leonard Franklin Lawson, Jr., 22, who was living in Campbellsville, was fatally injured in an accident at 1:23 Thurs. morning, 14 Jul [1983]. Lawson was traveling west on Ky. Hwy 210 in a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. approximately 100 yards before he reached the entrance to Forest Hills subdivision, the car went off the right side of the road and traveled more than 100 feet before hitting a tree head-on. The automobile was later reported to have been stolen from Mitch Pennington’s Auto Sales, according to the Campbellsville Metro Police Dept. The Jaws of Life were used to free Lawson from the car. He was transported to the Taylor Co. Hospital by the county’s Rescue Squad, then flown to a Louisville hospital.

Leonard Franklin Lawson, Jr., son of Mr. Leonard Lawson, Sr. and Mrs. Frances Runyon Lawson, was born 28 Jun 1961 in Taylor Co., Ky. and departed this life at 9:00 pm Thurs. 14 Jul 1983 at University Hospital in Louisville, Ky. He was 22 years and 16 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Christian Church at the time of his death. Mr. Lawson is survived by 1 son: Jeremy Steven Lawson of Greensburg, Ky. He is also survived by 2 sisters: Mrs. Martha Boggs and Mrs. Carol Price, both of Greensburg, and his foster grandmother, Mrs. Cannie Beams, Campbellsville, Ky., and host of other relatives and friends. The remains were at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home were funeral services were conducted at 1:00 pm Sun. 17 Jul 1983 with burial in the Full Gospel Tabernacle Cem. Rev. Leonard Largent officiated.
