HI me again. I guess I wasn't too clear with my message.
Rebecca Vout and Jonas Thurston married at the Anglican church in Cobourg, 1841.
witnesses were Elizabeth Clitheroe and Henry Vout. no parents named.
Rebecca had siblings all christened after her and I found it on Norfolk Parish records for
Corpusty, Aylsham. The family or part of them ended up around Cobourg except for one
brother George Vout who also lived in Dunsford Ont
Matilda was a daughter of Mary and James Vout and she married John Giddings, they lived in Cobourg. other children were, Henry, Emily,George, Emeline, Robert, John .
Not sure if the immigration of Mary and James was In 1871 to Michigan.
Does this help? Give me heck if this is a mess. Diane

Hi, Would have been best - to post the response to your original posting - to keep the thread intact - and prevent scattered messages - which are difficult to follow.

No parents shown ? in Norfolk Parish records for Corpusty, Aylsham England re christening of Rebecca, Matilda, Emily, Emeline, Heny, George, Robert & John VOUT ?

You State that
James and Mary VOUT - may have immigrated to Michigan in 1871?
When did they come to Canada?
Perhaps James passed away in the USA ?

When / Where -did Mary VOUT marry Mr. MANN.
He did not appear in the 1881 Canada Census.

Their children came to Canada earlier?
Rebecca VOUT married James THURSTON - 1841 Cobourg Ontario
Matilda VOUT - married John GIDDINGS

1881 Canada Census - April 4 1881.
MANN, Mary -/ VOUT age 79 - with
Matilda GIDDINGS nee VOUT age 46 and John GIDDINGS 48.

Mary MANN - {VOUT ] passed away in 1882 -
Where is she buried ? -
Perhaps an obituary had been published - some early ones - give some personal information
Long Form Death Registration / Long Form Death Certificate - may show names of parents if required at the time - and known to the Informant.

Search - Family Search Org Online - there are a number of family references - perhaps can lead you in the right direction.

In 1881 Mary Mann (nee Mrs. Vout) (age 79) was living with her daughter Rebecca (age 59) and son-in-law Jonas Thurston (age 66) in Dunsford , Verulam Township, Victoria South. Mary is listed as Methodist.

In 1881 Mary Mann (nee Mrs. Vout) (age 79) is also listed living with her daughter Matilda (age 44) and son-in-law John GIDDINGS (age 46) in Cobourg. Mary is listed as Methodist.
http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=1881Canada&...

The Methodist registers are now held by the United Church of Canada Archives in Toronto. Cobourg and area are in the Bay of Quinte Conference. Perhaps there is a Church record for the burial of Mr. Vout after 1863. Perhaps there is a Church record of Mary’s re-marriage to Mr. Mann, after 1863, which might list her maiden name. Perhaps there is a Church record for the burial of Mary Mann (nee Mrs. Vout), which might list her maiden name.

Matilda Vent (sic) (age 26) married John Geddings (sic) (age 28) in Cavan Township, (Northumberland and) Durham County, on October 26, 1863. Matilda was living in Cobourg and her parents James & Mary Vent were living in Hamilton Township (Northumberland County). Hamilton Township surrounds the town of Cobourg.

In 1861 Tilly Vout (age 25) was living in Cobourg. She was listed as Church of England.
http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=1861Canada&...

So, perhaps there is a record of Matilda’s marriage or BMDs of her parents or siblings in the parish records of a Cobourg area Anglican Church, held by the Diocese of Toronto, in Toronto. Marriage records of her siblings might list the maiden name of their mother.

In 1901 Matilda Giddings reported that she immigrated to Canada in 1848(?).
http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=1901canada&...

She died in Cobourg on March 8, 1908. Was an obit published? It might list her parents and siblings.

Rebecca Thurston died in Bobcaygeon, Verulam Township, Victoria County, on September 24, 1889. Was an obit published? It might list her parents and siblings

There is also a Benjamin Vout, born about 1844 in Cobourg, who married on May 8, 1879 in Lindsay, Victoria County. He listed his parents as James Vout & Mary Joyce. Benjamin is listed as Church of England.
http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?viewrecord=1&...

They were living in Peterborough in 1891.
http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=1891Canada&...

This Benjamin Vout died in Peterborough on November 26, 1895.
http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=ontario_deaths...

Perhaps his obit might list his parents and siblings.

There is also a Robert Vout, born about 1821 in England, living in Augusta Township, Grenville County in 1901. He reported his year of immigration to Canada as 1848 too.
http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=1901canada&...

On-line family trees say he was married in Norfolk, England in 1847 and his mother was Jemina Watts. His UK marriage registration should list his mother`s name. Get the number from FreeBMD
http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

and order the registration from the UK, General Register Office (£9.25 = $18 CAN)
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/default.asp

He died July 19, 1907 in Augusta. Perhaps an obit was published in Brockville newspaper.
