I am looking for the alternate Berkey family -I think these are not descended from Leonard Burgi of Switzerland, though they show up in the same county in PA to start with (around Allentown). Particularly, I would like to hear from anyone with connections to Jacob K. Berkey (son of Jacob Berkey m. Mary Koppes/Kolb/Culp) and Mary Ann (nee Schrock of Waterloo Ontario). Jacob & Mary Ann settled in Elkhart Indiana, where my ggrandfather Eli Berkey was born in 1866 (siblings were Barbara Ellen, Susanna, Aaron, Sarah A., Jacob, Daniel, Magdalen, William & Henry). Eli married Emma Elizabeth Bixler, for whom I have no information. One of their daughters, Hattie, later known as Oma, married Ray Brubaker. Any info would be appreciated.

According to Berkey family bible, Eli & Emma were married at Wakarusa, Indiana by George Lambert, Minister of the Gospel, with witness Amanda Lambert. Eli and Emma are written into the bible as Eli Berkey of St. Joseph's Co., Indiana and Emma Bixler of Elkhart Co., Indiana.
