The Reverend John Wheelwright had a grant from the Town of Boston of 250 acres in February 1637. Frank T. Cole in his book "The Early Genealogies of the Cole Families in America" states that William Cole was granted two acres on January 23, 1637.
I recall reading elsewhere that each head of household excluding females received a 4 acre grant.
Does anybody have an idea of why only two acres would have been granted?
I understand that the Boston Town Records would list the names of all those who received the grants and the size of their grant. Would these records also show where the grantee lived at the time of receiving the grant?
