Martha Alice Hicks Miller Jones was my Grandmother. She was born in about 1870. Apparently, from family legends, she was raised by someone other than her parents. It could have been family members or she could have been adopted. Apparently her parents died. She was not sure if Hicks was her real last name. She married a Miller (first name unknown) and had two sons, John and Chancellor. Something happened and she was left alone with the two sons and married my Grandfather Issac Crockett Jones. She brought her son John to Transylvania County with her from somewhere in Buncombe County, but she left Chancellor with family and was never able to return for him. After he was an adult he came to see her several times. Apparently he was killed in some kind of a wreck on the train tracks (maybe in Etowah). I can find nothing about Chancellor, and I can not find anything about my grandmother before she married my grandfather Jones. Does anyone have any knowledge of her or her son?
