Good day to you all!

I have a somewhat convoluted situation on my hands in terms of locating ancestors due to a surname change sometime after 1910, and am looking for any information anyone can provide on one Salvatore Catanzaro. This branch of my family is from Alcamo, or so I've been told, and the evidence I've found so far supports at least a Sicilian heritage from the same region.

Here's what I've got: Salvatore was probably born in March of 1872 in Italy (1900 census), and came to the United States sometime in the 1880s. Records disagree as to when; the 1900 census states he came over in 1888, but there's also an 1884 Passenger list that identifies one 12-year-old "Catanzaro Salvatore" who came from Termini with his 45-year-old father ("Catanzaro Fabiano") in 1884. Because of Italian naming conventions, I am tempted to believe this latter evidence instead; Salvatore's first son, and my great-grandfather, would be named Fabiano as well.

He married Mary/Maria Bisesi sometime in the 1890s; the 1900 census implies it was in 1893. They had six children: Fabiano (my great-grandfather); Gilarmo; Salvatore; Maria; Michele (male); and John. All were born in Michigan, or so the census data says.

Now, since John was born in 1905, and the 1910 census lists Maria Catanzaro as widowed and living with her parents (and all the children), he must have died in-between those dates.

According to family dogma, sometime shortly after 1910, much of this branch of the family changed its name to "Kinsora" and adopted anglicized given-names; so, Fabiano Catanzaro became "Frank Kinsora", Salvatore became "Sam Kinsora" and so on. "Kinsora" remains our family name to this day. Of course, the given reasons for this change differ depending on who I talk to.

My grandfather very rarely talks about his father; I think they were very different people, and didn't get along well. But, in any case, I want to know as much as possible. If anyone has any certificates verifying any of the above info, or even has any other info regarding the family, please post it here (or let me know).

Thank you very much, in advance.
