Any one have any ideas how to find out?

My grandfather Paul Williamson told me that one of his female relatives lived in Ireland and wanted to come to the US. (He told me the name but I do not remember it.) The story is that she wanted to come to the US but they were not letting people out willy nilly. Her family and the neighbors came up with a plan. The neighbors would claim she stole their cow, so she would be shipped to America. She would then work and bring the neighbors family over first and then her family.

The thing is, his mother and father were the first in his family in the US so it makes sense the story was about his mother right?

Winifred Mary Kearns Williamson was b. between 1890 and 1892 She died of cancer in 1937

My grandfather had a book documenting all of it (so I know proof exists because I saw it) but it disappeared after his death.

I am not sure where to look to find the proof.
