Hi,

I have been looking through the Clondegad Parish Records and had a few questions if anyone has the answers.
I noticed that the mother's names were listed with their maiden names. What about the sponsors/witnesses? Are the married females listed with their maiden names or married names??
Are the sponsors/witnesses generally family members? Or are they just people that the couple knew or lived near?
I don't know a lot about early Irish (Roman Catholic) traditions, so any insight would be great.
