Researching Mary J Smith and Eben Avery's line to include children Orlando B; Eugene D; Fred; Cora; John W. born between 1849 - 1863. Orlando is variously found as O, Orlando and O. B. on records. Family is found in Hartsgrove, Ashtabula, OH farming about 1860 - 1880. Orlando is found in KS by 1880. In 1850 Emeline Avery (15); Betsey Smith (54 and presumed Mary J.'s mother); and Lydia A. Smith (14) all b. NY are living in the Smith-Avery household. Eben's parents were b. VT/NY and likely trace from the Groton, CT Avery clan. I originally believed Mary J.'s surname to be Scott but from archived message entries it appears it is Smith which clears up the mystery of Smith's living in the Avery household. Looking for other researchers of this OH line. I have information on Orlando up to 1930.
