I have a relative (Demsey Alva Emerson) who, in 1914 at the age of 25, immigrated from Bottineau, ND, USA to Benson, Sask. to farm.

I'm trying to figure out why. Was there a free land offering at that time or something else that would have attracted him to Benson?

He stayed in Canada somewhere between 10-15 yrs before moving back to the U.S. and I'm not sure why he would've moved back.

Just a bunch of curiosity on my part, I guess.
