I am looking for any online newspapers, cemetery lists, or local historical societies I can contact for help. Having exhausted all of my options through Ancestry and the New Jersey State Archives, I am currently at a dead end but am trying to verify one strong lead.
Does anyone have a general direction to point me in?
The details:
According to the 1880 federal census and vital records from the state archives, Lucy Jane Space (b.1860) married Thomas Ming (b.1857) in 1877 and had three daughters over the next four years, two of whom died in infancy. The surviving daughter was Jessie Ming. The family may have lived in Newark until as late as 1886, according to directories that list a Thomas Ming (brakeman) living in Newark. After that, the family is gone... no clues. I am hoping to find any information about this family from 1880 to 1893.
I am basically trying to figure out if this family is mine. If it is, then Jessie's surname changed from Ming to Robinson (according to many documents and sources) before marrying John Lonergan in 1895 in Yonkers, NY at the age of 16. She was my GGgrandmother, is known to have been from Newark, and her mother's name was Lucy Jane (Lucy Jane's last marriage was to Thomas Blamire in 1893).
Any help would be tremendously appreciated!
Casey
