Louis Bjorklund (emigrated from Sweden as Lars Bengtsson in 1906) was a brother to my great grandfather Peter (Per Bengtsson in Sweden)Bjorklund who settled in Buffalo, Minnesota. Lars'(Louis family emigrated the following year, leaving Sweden December 30, 1907 and probably arrived to North America in 1908. Lars' wife was Kristina and their children were Ester Elisabet(b.1884),Per Olof(b. 1888),Gertrud Katarina(b.1891), Signe Kristina(b.1894), Brita Mathilda(b.1896) and Hildur Adelina(b.1900). The family must have taken the name Bjorklund (as did my great grandfather)over here and Lars became Louis as noted on two of his daughers marriage affidavits. I found two marriage affidavits online. One for a Signe Bjorkund marrying Matias Frihagen on 1/27/1917 in Dryden Ontario and another for a Hilda Adeline marrying Richard Emmanuel Nordstrom on 8/9/1919 in Thunder Bay. Both listed the women's residence when married as Wabigoon and were signed by Louis and his wife Christine Johnson with maiden name (she was Kristina Jonsdotter in Sweden).
In 1948 my father took a trip to Canada and stopped to see several of Louis's daughters. I have pictures of a Gertie(Gertrud ?)Nelson at Dyment Ontario as well as a picture of a Hilda Rhind (had she divorced Nordstom and remarried ?)in Wabigoon Ontario. Also Dad continued on to Winnipeg and there is a picture of Signe on the steps of a duplex home with a house number of 371 but no listed street. I would guess that to be Signe's home but I also have a letter she wrote in March 1945 when she was living in Simpson Sask. If anyone knows about any of these individuals or their descendants I would love to hear from you. I would love to get in contact with any living descendants of Louis Bjorklund. Thank you.
