I am tracing Wiley Jefferson Ward from Union, SC. If I am correct, according to census records, a Wiley Ward was born in 1803 and appears in SC census records, Jonesville Twp., from 1840 through 1880. In later census records, W J. appears in 1870, Jonesville Twp, and Wiley J in 1920. Wiley J. was born in 1876. I found that W. J. Ward was in the SC 7th Cavalry Regiment, Company C and a Wiley J. Ward applied for a Confederate pension from Limestone Cty., Texas where my grandfather, William J. Ward, b 1878, resided with his wife, Marietta Hampton, b 1882. According to my aunt, Wiley J., resided in Union, SC and died there. He married Lee Scott, whose brother was Wesley Scott and married to another member of the Ward family (I believe Wiley's brother).
Several of my relatives are also searching for Wards, Scotts and Hamptons, including Donnie Ward of Garland, TX; Robert Hampton of Parker, Colorado.
Can anyone supply more information?
