I am doing research on my ancestry and I have found 2 different crests and such. I understand how different "branches" of the same surname can have different crests however, and there will really be no possible way for me to find out which direct branch I come from. Especially since one of the Griffith coats are identicle to Richard the Lionheart's minus with the exception of the color of the Lions Passant, his are gold while ours are silver. I am going to take a stab at creating my own coat of arms to pass down to my children and so on and I would like to be as realistic as possible. How would I incorporate what I do know without using quarters as this will be the first "creation" of this family coat.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated and returned as I am a graphic artist, internet savant and professional web designer.
