Oh, no, not another spelling! That's right; thanks to a tip from the "Deau" message board I set up, I have stopped running ino dead ends, and wound up here. I am looking for the parents of my great-grandfather, Joseph John Deau, who married Mary Louise DuPuis in Peshtigo, Wisconsin. Mary died in 1927 and is buried at Holy Cross Cemetary in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. They were probably married in the Coleman/Peshtigo area. They had two children that I am aware of: 1) Dolor, who developed shell-shock in France during WWI. He never recovered and spent the rest of his life in veterans' institutions. I remember attending his funeral circa 1958. 2) August, my grandfather, who married Elodie Lintereur, daughter of Octavie Brault and Joseph Lintereur of Coleman/Peshtigo, Wisconsin. They lived in Two Rivers, WI where he worked as a barber. They had four children: 1) Jeannne, who married Richard Steinhardt. They had four children - Betsy, Sally, Richard (Kip) and Scott. 2) Elizabeth/Betty, who married Owen Clayton. They had two children, Candace and Owen (Jay) 3) Rosalind, who married and later divorced Roger Sekadlo. They had three children, Nancy, Penny and Steve. Rosalind is the only surviving child of August and Elodie. 4) William, my father, who married Corleta (Marmes) Green of Antigo, Wisconsin. They had six children, Cynthia (my birh name), Jennifer, Mary (died in 1985), James, William and Thomas. At what point did the spelling change from the original "D'aoust" to "Deaux/Deau" for this branch of the family. There are still quite a few Deaus in the northern Wisconsin/upper Michigan area. I would love to hear from some of them! Thanks for any help/pointers/ hard-core data you can give me. Morgan
