My royal ancestry is a bit of a mystery. My ancestor,
Katrinka(Catharine) Van Valkenbergh (any sp), who was born in 1802, was a cousin of the queen of Holland. She was also a lady-in-waiting, and fled to America to avoid marrying a German prince. That's about all the information I have, and I know many of you out there know far more about royalty and the Netherlands than I could ever hope to, so if any of you could tell me who the likely queen would be, where Catharine likely would have lived, what a lady-in-waiting does, or even make an educated guess, I would greatly appreciate it.
I personally think she might have been related to the daughter of Empress Josephine, due to the fact that Josephine's daughter was briefly the queen at that time, and Catharine gave her son a French name, Lafayette. Had she been related to any other queen of Holland, she would have been adamantly against the French. Please let me know of any theories you may have! Thanks!
Sincerely Yours,
Rachel S.
