Hello, I am researching my 4Xgreat grandfather a Colonel James Sutherland (b 1726 d. 1789). We have recieved a letter from the Sutherland Clan Historian telling us that he is one of two known illegitimate sons of the 17th Earl of Sutherland. I am curious as to the name of his mother and any of her ancestors.

Secondly, He married an Elizabeth Baillie, daughter of William Baillie and Katherine Sutherland of Clyne. If any information is available with regards to them or their ancestry I would greatly appreciate hearing from my cousins. I am presently at a stand still and could use a jump start. Thank You all.
