Hi There,
I am new to this so please accept my apologies if I have posted this on the wrong board but I am really needing someone to help me. I am keen to find out what a card I came across is that belonged to my mother.
My mother passed away for six years now but there has been recent revelations from various family members that my mother had a son but he was put up for adoption. We can not get our heads around this as our mother was very maternal and even hated the Social Services calling them "baby snatchers". However, certain things are coming to light and making more sense. We have came across this card which she kept, can anyone tell me what this is for...
"The British Red Cross Society. Joan Boyd has passed the maternal and child welfare examination" Place was Greenock, Renfrewshire. Date was 25 November 1969.
She always deeply resented her mother for sending her away due to alleged sexual abuse from her father. Could it b that an actual fact she was sent away because she had got pregnant? If there is any truth to this adoption story, I am keen to learn although I realise its probably highly unlikely he would be traceable.
Would this certificate/card be given during early/late pregnancy or after the birth? If any?
Any help, would be really appreciative. I have phoned both the Red Cross and the Salvation Army and both have said they cant tell me what its for.
Kind Regards
Heather.
