MERLIN SUMMERFIELD
Merlin Letcher Summerfield, 96, of Florence died Sept. 6, 2000 in Casa Grande.

Visitation was from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Cole & Maud Chapel of the Valley Mortuary in Coolidge. The funeral there followed at 10 a.m. Burial was in Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Mesa.

Mr. Summerfield was born in Roby, Ill. He was a railroad section foreman before retirement.

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Colbath of Florence and Reah Simpson of Apache Junction; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna, and a son, Merlin "Buck" Summerfield.
