Dr. Malcolm Sidney Moore, Sr., M.D., 78, died Thursday, May 17, 2012 at home after an extended illness. He was born in Fulton, Mississippi on October 8, 1933 to the late Archie Asberry Moore and the late Verna Ann Moore. Malcolm graduated from Tupelo High School in 1951. He attended the University of Mississippi and graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1958. Two weeks after graduation, he married his sweetheart and classmate, Nell Crawford, in Rolling Fork, Mississippi. Drs. Nell and Malcolm interned in General Practice at Greenville General Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina. After completing their internship, the family moved back to Tupelo where they opened their first medical office and practiced for 42 years.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues in Tupelo, Mississippi. Interment will be private at a later date. Visitation will be from 1 - 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the funeral home, 535 W. Jefferson Street, Tupelo, MS 38804. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 501 West Main Street, Tupelo, MS 38804, to the Tupelo-Lee Humane Society, P.O. Box 1185, Tupelo, MS, 38802, or to a charity of their choice .

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nell Crawford Moore, whom he married on June 21, 1958; by his five children, Malcolm Sidney Moore, Jr., M.D. of Macon, GA, Marcus Claude Moore, CFP and wife Carrie of Keller, TX, Teresa Moore Mendenhall, M.D. and husband Bill of Jackson, MS, Samuel Archie Moore and wife Dianna of Flower Mound, TX, and Margaret Moore Cook, J.D. and husband Kevin of Highlands Ranch, CO; and by his nine granddaughters, Madison Moore of Atlanta, GA and Marion Moore of Macon, GA, Mandy Moore and Maggie Moore of Keller, TX, Ann Mendenhall and Meg Mendenhall of Jackson, MS, and Mary Ella Moore, Annie Moore and Samantha Moore of Flower Mound, TX. He is also survived by his brother, Charles Edward Moore, Sr., D.D.S. and his wife Azalia of Tupelo, MS.
