Some of my family tree research was flawed and I have been able to establish with a relative living in Northern Ireland some new info this evening.
Firstly the parents of Patrick Mc Cambridge were Thomas Mc Cambridge (He died around 1860) and his wife was Biddy (nee) Pettigrew
Thomas Mc Cambridges father was called David (That would be my great, great, grandfather.
I thought that my family had emigrated to America straight from Scotland. This was false, because it seems that although the family orginated from Scotland, Thomas was born in Antrim and lived on the estate owner by the Earle of Antrim.
Patrick and Elizabeth were married in Glenarm county Antrim and went on to have four sons and their daughters perished in the flu epidemic.
I dont know which sons ( Hugh, James, John, Thomas) were born in America now or in Antrim? But I do know that the family went to Belfast so that there sons were not lost to the flu epidemic, as their daughters had been.
One of the sons Hugh (Hughie) was a scholar and he ran the Social Services department in Strabane for a time.
My grandfather John, joined the army and was in the Enniskilens, which became the Royal Enniskilens.
My grandfathers date of birth was the 30th Janurary 1895 and he died at 62 Hamill Street Belfast on 21st February in 1975.
My grandfather wife died at the same address on May 14th 1961 and her name was Susan Mc Cambridge (nee) Mc Dermott and before that her ancestors were O'Connors
I've also been told that the 1911 census would help to put some questions to rest and to look for Brookfield Street and the area of Old Park?
This might help others looking, good luck!
