Caldwell - Howard T. Howell, 75, of 2205 East Linden, Caldwell, died Monday, Nov, 12, 1984, in Caldwell Hospital of natural causes. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, Nov 15, at the First Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 12th and Everett Street, Caldwell, with Bishop Wallace E Plant officiating. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell. Arrangements are under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Mr Howell, a retired Mountain Bell manager, was born July 01, 1909, at Young Harris, Georgia, as son of Alleney and Candus [Coffey] Howell. He married Ruth Shepherd on May 30, 1935, at Pocatello where they resided for 14 years. Mr Howell was employed by Mountain Bell Telephone Company. They came to Caldwell in 1949, where he managed the Mountain Bell Office. Mrs Howell died Sept 09, 1977. He later married Dorothy Renwick on Dec 17, 1981, at Caldwell. There marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on Sept 06, 1983. He retired from Mountain Bell Telephone Company after 39 years.
He was an honorary member of the Caldwell Rotary Club; a member of the Telephone Pioneer Club of America; and also held the office of high priest in the LDS Church. Survivors include his wife Dorothy of Caldwell; three daughters, Mrs Candace Beck and Mrs Jackie Vertress, both of Caldwell, and Mrs Sandra Landbeck of Aberdeen, Md., two stepdaughters, Mary Woodall of Portland, Ore., and Sandra Kinney of Caldwell; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers.
