Hazel O. Hjelm
Hazel O'Dell Hjelm, 81, of Bristol, Tenn., died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, in Wellmont Hospice House.
She was the daughter of the late Johnnie A. and Isabelle Booher O'Dell. A native of Bristol, Tenn., she had worked most of her adult life in Washington, D.C., and was affiliated with Woodward and Lothrop Department Store as a bookkeeper. She retired in the 1980s and returned to Bristol. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband, Robert W. Hjelm; one sister, Mary O'Dell, Bristol, Tenn.; one brother, James R. O'Dell, Bristol, Va.; two nieces, Laura Barbrey, Bristol, Tenn., and Mary Ashmore, Greenville, S.C.; and three great-nephews, Aaron Barbrey, Bryan Barbrey and John Ashmore.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, in Akard Chapel with Rev. Thomas Quickel officiating. Burial will be in Shipley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ed Booher, Jim Key, Glenn Booher, Charles Booher, Michael DeBusk, Robbie Witcher, Bobbie Bushong and Jack Gent.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Akard Funeral Home.
