Hi I have noticed a lengthly thread of Bellamy families in the South USA. I know this is a long shot, but I am having a hard time finding the maiden name of my G-G-Grandmother. I am H-O-P-I-N-G that Bellamy might have been her maiden name. I have the funeral papers for my G-Aunt, but the maiden name of her mother is the only thing I can't read (runs together with typed words on right side of page). I sent for my G-Aunt's and my G-Grandfather's death certificates and "None were found". HA!
Anyway my g-g-grandmother's name was Eliza. It MAY have been Eliza Adaline C or Eliza A C or Adaline C (seen it all these ways. She was born according to various census records between 1828 and 1835 in GA.
She first married a Stanfield man about 1850-1852 in GA. They had 3 children: Ella and Emma (twins born about 1853 AL or GA) and William F (born Feb, 1855). Mr Stanfield (whose given name I'd love to know (have been "told" Joseph) has disappeared (left or died?)by 1856 at the latest.
Eliza then married Zachariah Jordan (his second marriage) most likely in GA around 1855-57. I have info on up on this union and the Stanfield and Jordan children, but cannot get further back with Eliza nor her Stanfield husband.
Would any of you researching the Southern Bellamy families have my g-g-grandmother (or possible name that might fit?)
Thank you for the time to read this and for any help you may be able to give. Sue
