I am looking for any information regarding the presumed death of Alex H Stephens in Jesup, Ga. He was married to Georgie Overstreet in 1912. They moved to Jesup after 1917. They are listed in the 1920 census in Wayne County. Georgie's death certificate from 1954 lists her as a widow. Alex did not die until 1966. I have his death cert. also. I was told he was in a terrible car accident(date unknown) and was severly brain damaged and blind. He was a patient at G. Pierce Wood Memorial Hospital when he died in 1966. This hospital was a Florida State Hospital which closed early this year. If someone has heard of this family or this accident, please contact me. If an accident really happened, I would like to get a copy of the newspaper article if there is one. I am guessing that they may have had money, because I remember my Grandmother telling me about learning how to drive a car. Irene Stephens(my grandmother) was born January 25, 1915. I don't know how many people had cars in the 1920's, I don't think alot did.
